Welcome to this website for my photographs, which serves as my online photograph album incorporating images from the early 1980s to the present day.

I am a retired university lecturer in Microbiology. My interest in photography that goes back to the 1970's.  In October 1983, I won the BBC2 Photo Assignment Trophy (see winning photo below) which was the first prize in a competition run during a series of TV programmes on photography of the same name, presented by Dave Lee Travis (a Radio 1 DJ at the time).  Among the judges and contributors to the programmes were the eminent photographers, Lord Patrick Lichfield and Terence Donovan.

On the back of this win, I became a freelance theatre production photographer from 1984-1990 for the Haymarket Theatre, Leicester and this led to commissions from several London West End theatres and provincial theatres. Some of these images can be seen in my Theatre Work Collection on this website.  Black and white photography was my major interest then for my personal work.

I was an early adopter of digital photography, buying my first digital camera (an Olympus Camedia C-1400L) in 1997.  After I retired, I studied for a Master of Arts degree in Photography at De Montfort University and graduated with this award in January 2016.
